Analyses of Air Cooled Condensers
Depending on their size within the power plant air cooled condensers can be very sensitive to the environmental effects, e.g. side wind and interaction with neighboring buildings. By application of 3D numerical flow simulation those effects can be taken into consideration for the evaluation of the condenser’s performance at different operating points and wind situations. B&B-AGEMA has developed an ACC modeling technique, that includes local heat transfer calculation, side wind simulation, buoyancy effects. Special attention is given to the modeling of the ACC fan system, since the performance of the fans is also strongly dependent on the environmental situation (side wind speed and direction, surrounding obstacles, etc.).

The models delivers the steam temperature and pressure at condenser inlet, which allow direct evaluation of the condenser performance.
